Limpopo-born South African musician Makhadzi has tearfully confessed that Botswana loves her more than her own country of birth.

Makhadzi revealed this startling detail after she was honoured in Botswana by the country’s leadership as well as royals of the Batlokwa tribe.

She was given the full presidential treatment ahead of her One Woman Show billed for Tlokweng, Botswana, this weekend. Tlokweng is a modern village, geographically attached to the country’s capital, Gaborone, and it’s set to host Makhadzi’s stadium show on Saturday.

10% of the proceeds from the show are set to be donated to charities around Botswana.

The Batlokwa tribe held an elaborate function to honour Makhadzi on Wednesday. The event which was attended by a Botswana government minister was held at the Tlokweng Main Kgotla.

Multitudes of women graced the event dressed in shawls and leteisi (Setswana Traditional attire). The ever-humble Makhadzi attended the event dressed in the same Setswana traditional attire.

The Matorokisi star was showered with various gifts by the Tlokweng Village elders and royals who commended her prodigious talent and work ethic. They spoke glowingly of how Makhadzi is influencing the youth positively across the continent with her music.

Makhadzi was so touched by the royal treatment that she received from the Botswana royals and the Botswana government that she broke down.

The talented musician tearfully revealed that she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love. Makhadzi confessed that she gets the most love from Botswana and that she has never received such love from her birth nation of South Africa.

“I express my gratitude to the leaders of this country for allowing me to have my show here, Botswana is the only country that has shown me so much love even more than my own country. I want to reach out to the younger ones…” said Makhadzi…

Below are some of the photos from the event held in Botswana to honour Matorokisi hitmaker, Makhadzi.
