Multitalented media personality Somizi Mhlongo is feeling grateful to his ancestors and God after he bagged another huge win after going through a tumultuous period in the last few months. The Idols SA is on top of the world after bagging his own talk show, “Downtime With Somizi”

The new talk show will be premiering on 1 April on DStv channel 1 Magic. Somizi announced the new talk show on his Instagram account. He expressed thanks to his ancestors and God for the huge win.

Said Somizi,

“DOWNTIME WITH SOMIZI……set your alarms….. kushubile uGod and my ancestors are at play……and your prayers” .

Giving more details on the new talk show, Somizi said,

“Hai Shem, life had us in a chokehold. So this year, our spirits and minds deserve a break.

“So, this year ra tempela! 2022 thuthuka, 2022 to the top. I am taking 5-star experiences that will make everyone want to fetch their lives.

“Catch me on my show, Downtime with Somizi. Friday 8 April. Only on 1Magic.”

Given the latest development, it’s hard to imagine that just months ago, Somizi appeared to be reeling following multiple accusations made against him.

The second season of his monster-hit television series, Dinner at Somizi’s failed to materialise following allegations that Somizi had stolen the show’s concept from Hastings Moeng.

Moeng alleged that Somizi stole his concept which he had pitched to him for the television show which he had termed “Dinner Kwa Somizi” in an email on 28 July 2014. At the time nothing materialized. However, Moeng is said to have been shocked to see the show airing without any further input from him.

Somizi did not dispute that Hastings had approached him over the matter, but he insisted that he had not stolen the idea, as it was not a unique concept.

“I did not steal anybody’s concept and I will never again claim I came up with an original concept. I was inspired by a whole lot of shows.”

After his marriage to Mohale Motaung ended in acrimonious circumstances, Somizi was suspended from Idols SA. This was after Mohale made allegations of domestic abuse against him. His former close friend Unathi Nkayi threw him under the bus as she unfollowed him on social media and insisted that she could not be friends with an abuser.

However, in a twist of fate, Somizi returned to Idols SA for season 17 while Unathi was let go after she was fired from Kaya FM following reports that she had made false allegations against colleague Sizwe Dhlomo.
