Seasoned actress Buhle Samuels, who played the role of a gold digger Zandile, in Imbewu: The Seed has rubbished claims that she was fired by the telenovela.

The actress has for the first also rubbished claims that she was fired by SABC 2’s long-running soapie Muvhango where she played Matshidiso.

The former Muvhango actress Buhle Samuels was fired by Imbewu: The Seed according to entertainment commentator Phil Mphela.

Samuels replied to Mphela’s tweet, rubbished reports that she was fired and said she declined the offer.

She replied:

“Hi Phil, I was not fired.”

“It would be nice if you verified such stories that paint one as “fired”.

Samuels also said she declined the offer because she was tired of playing a gold digger and would like to challenge herself.

She added that the production of Imbewu knew that but still wrote a gold digger role for her.

Actress Angela Sithole who has replaced her as Zandile on Imbewu confirmed on her social media account that she will be replacing her on Imbewu from Monday.

The Imbewu: The Seed actress has also rubbished reports that she was fired from her Muvhango role where she played the role of Matshidiso.

This is the first time that the actress has spoken about her exit since she left the soapie in 2020.

It was reported that the actress was written out of her role because of her “diva” tendencies.

She tweeted:

“I was also “fired” from my last job! A job I left because I felt I needed growth and didn’t feel it was possible in that environment.”

Samuels added that she’s not hard to work with and she’s not “a diva” and anybody that’s worked with her on any show will attest to her great work ethic.

The show also lost actors Muzi Mthabela, who plays the role of Menzi and actress Phindile Gwala who played the role of Fikile on Imbewu: The Seed this year.

City Press, reported that Mathabela exited Imbewu as he was becoming increasingly frustrated with his Casanova role.

The publication reported the role did not sit well with his personal life, as he is a devoted Christian church.

The actor confirmed that he landed a role on SABC1’s soapie, Generations: The Legacy .
